Algae oil vs. krill oil and fish oil

Algae oil vs. fish oil

Oily fish contains only 1% omega-3, while algae oil contains around 20% omega-3. Instead of catching 20 billion kilograms of fish for omega-3, we can also produce 1 billion kilos of algae for the same amount of omega-3.

A high-quality algae oil supplement, such as Testa Omega-3, contains enough algae omega-3 to make all three health claims with 1 daily capsule. With fish oil capsules, this is rarely the case.

Omega-3 fatty acids supplements are highly sensitive to oxidation. Since the Rubin Report 2011, we know that there are many issues with fish oil. Several other reports have also shown that most fish oils aren’t fresh, and that rancid fish oil is harmful to health. With algae oil, the algae are produced purely for the production of omega-3 algae oil. The whole process is controlled for optimal freshness.

Since many fish oil supplements are not fresh, you may sense an aftertaste with fish oil. This is not the case with algae oil.

All crude fish oil is contaminated with heavy metals, dioxins, and PCBs. Many industrial processes are required to remove this pollution and to ensure the freshness of a fish oil supplement. Algae are pure and free from ocean pollution, as they are grown on land with fresh water.

Fish cannot make omega-3 and only serve as the intermediary. The only reason that fish contains omega-3 is because of the algae in their food chain. So, why not bypass the fish and get our omega-3 from fresh and pure algae?

Algae oil vs. krill oil

Eight krill oil capsules are needed compared to only one algae oil capsule, to make health claims for the heart, eyes, and brain. There is hardly any omega-3 in krill oil capsules.

Krill oil contains phospholipids, omega-3s, and astaxanthin. Some studies have recorded a 40% improvement in omega-3 absorption for krill oil compared to fish oil. However, a high-quality algae oil supplement, such as Testa Omega-3 Vrill , contains 400% more omega-3 than krill oil. All health claims associated with krill oil have been rejected by health authorities.

Krill is caught with container ships in Antarctica. The once enormous krill stocks are decreasing. Several leading scientists warn of ecological disaster because krill is at the beginning of the food chain and animals such as penguins, seals, whales and many fishes in these waters feed off them.

Does algae contain more or less Omega-6 than fish(oil)?

Less. Per capsule, our supplements offer 28 mg omega-6 and 450 mg omega-3, a ratio of 1:16. In krill oil, that is 1:7, in sardine oil, 1:2.2, for farmed salmon, 1:4, herring, 1:5, and in anchovy oil, 1:10.

Krill oil vs fish oil

Is krill oil the same as fish oil when it comes to omega-3 supplementation?

When comparing krill oil to fish oil for omega-3 supplementation, several factors come into play. While both sources provide omega-3 fatty acids, they originate from different marine organisms. Krill oil stands out for its higher antioxidant content and potential for better absorption due to its phospholipid content.

Research suggests that krill oil may result in higher blood levels of omega-3s compared to fish oil. However, an alternative option worth considering is algae oil, which offers the best of both worlds. Vegan omega 3 provides ample amounts of DHA and EPA, along with antioxidants. Moreover, algae oil is an ethical and sustainable choice, making it a preferred option for those concerned about environmental impact.
