Algae oil

Sustainable solution for fish oil capsules

The only reason that fish contain Omega-3 is that fish eat algae. Therefore, the good fatty acids which we need originate in algae and not in fish.

So why should we intake fish oil capsules? We can very easily remove this extra step in our Omega-3 food chain and obtain the fatty acids directly from algae instead of from fish.

Algae oil capsules have the following advantages compared to fish oil capsules:

  • Sustainable choice: you are not contributing to  over-fishing and unnecessary by-catch;
  • 100% vegetable capsules, so also suitable for vegetarians and vegans;
  • Where fish oil must be cleaned of harmful substances, algae oil is pure in and of itself.

If you choose algae oil capsules, you are not only opting for your own health but also for a healthy fish population and a healthy environment.

Heart, brains and eyes

Most sources of omega-3 DHA and EPA are not plant-based and are therefore not suitable for vegetarians and vegans. For vegetarians and vegans it is particularly important to take extra DHA and EPA because ALA can only be converted into DHA and EPA to a limited extent. Omega-3 based on algae oil is one of the few natural animal-free sources of the much-needed DHA and EPA.

Omega-3 from algae

Omega-3 DHA + EPA fatty acids are mainly found in oily fish, but if you eat little to no fish it is difficult to take in enough Omega-3. Algae are high in Omega-3 and are the superfood for fish. Testa Omega-3 made from algae is a vegetable and especially environmentally friendly alternative for fish or fish oil capsules.
